Chain prepares for its 17th Alabama restaurant
The Millbrook location will be Culver's 17th in Alabama. In its Oct. 28, 2026, report, al.com counted 16 existing restaurants across Albertville, Auburn, Birmingham, Decatur, Florence, Foley, Hampton Cove, Hazel Green, Hoover, Huntsville, Madison, Mobile, Orange Beach, Oxford and Phenix City.
Founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin, in 1984, the American fast-casual chain now has more than 1,000 restaurants across 26 states. Its signature offerings include ButterBurgers, which pair fresh ground beef with buttered buns, along with frozen custard and Wisconsin cheese curds. Customers can also order salads and fried fish.
Sean Henderson, the Culver's operator, said the area's growth and sense of community helped draw him to 17 Springs. He said he wants the restaurant to create jobs, build relationships with local families and serve Millbrook and nearby communities.
More businesses take shape around 17 Springs
Other businesses at the Marketplace include Baumhower's Victory Grille, Chick-fil-A and 1220 Cafe. Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons is developing a medical clinic there as well.
The commercial development occupies a site directly south of the sports complex on Alabama Highway 14, one mile east of Interstate 65 at Exit 181. According to the 17 Springs project website, it has eight pad-ready commercial lots, with sizes ranging from just under an acre to 2.3 acres.
The neighboring sports complex covers 110 acres off Highway 14 near Interstate 65, WAKA Action 8 News reported in June 2026. Alongside its multipurpose athletic fields are tennis and pickleball courts, a football stadium and an 85,000-square-foot field house.
Mayor Al Kelley described Culver's investment as a sign of confidence in Millbrook's growth and the opportunities around 17 Springs. He said the restaurant would add jobs and give residents and visitors another family-friendly dining option. Kelley also chairs the 17 Springs Marketplace Cooperative District, according to WSFA 12 News.
