Why AIVision Changed the Timeline
In its Saturday Steam announcement, AIVision said Early Access "may not have been the right choice for this game." The developer explained that it had released Unforgiving Dungeon for free to share its work and build recognition, but found that Early Access did not suit that purpose.
The game's Steam Early Access FAQ had outlined an expected stay of roughly 6–12 months, while allowing for changes based on community feedback and development progress. The decision brings that period to a close sooner than AIVision originally intended.
AIVision thanked players who had downloaded, played, or reviewed the game. Its Steam listing shows October 24, 2026, as the release date and places it in the Casual and Free To Play categories.
Dungeon Runs and Recent Updates
The Steam store describes Unforgiving Dungeon as a tactical, turn-based roguelike dungeon crawler. After choosing a starting weapon, players explore five procedurally generated levels made up of cavernous rooms, contend with hidden traps and bosses, and compete on global Steam Leaderboards.
At least two updates arrived in September before the Early Access exit. A September 14 post reported the addition of two music tracks and a bug fix. The September 19 "Gameplay update!" introduced weapon descriptions, expanded descriptions for boss encounters, and a music volume setting. It also revised the leaderboard to total previous runs while displaying a "personal best run."
The store page includes an AI Generated Content Disclosure stating: "Unity AI Assistant was used to generate most sprites, all the code, and artwork with the exception of the tile set."
Desktop Goblins Is the Follow-Up
Alongside its commitment to keep fixing bugs in Unforgiving Dungeon, AIVision pointed to its next project, Desktop Goblins. In that game, goblins inhabit the player's Windows desktop and build a village. It is listed as coming soon, without an announced release date.
AIVision plans to share development progress, solicit ideas, and consider player feedback as work on Desktop Goblins continues.
