Employee development at FDH
Hannah Kankuzi, the group's head of human resources, said the awards acknowledged FDH's investment in employees' skills and a workplace that supports them. "We believe that when employees have the right skills and are well taken care of, they are better placed to serve our customers and contribute to the Group's growth," she said.
The group's main banking subsidiary, FDH Bank Plc, reported in its 2024 annual report that it had trained more than 800 employees through 90 different learning and development programs that year. It also ran an 18-month Graduate Trainee program and an Executive Development Programme with the University of Stellenbosch.
FDH Financial Holdings owns 74.05% of the bank, its flagship subsidiary. The bank has been listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange since August 2020, according to the annual report.
The group's training operations also include the Thomson Frank Mpinganjira (TFM) Centre of Excellence, a subsidiary in Mpemba, Blantyre. Nyasa Times reported that work to establish the center began in 2022. It is named for FDH's founder and former group chief executive officer, Dr. Thomson Frank Mpinganjira.
The center provides leadership and professional development programs for FDH employees and the wider market. Its intended participants include individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, corporations, parastatals and government employees.
Continued support for staff
Kankuzi said FDH would keep offering career development opportunities and supporting employee welfare as it works to build a motivated, productive workforce.
"Our aim is to help our employees grow in their careers while making sure they feel supported and valued at work. These awards motivate us to keep finding better ways to invest in our people and their wellbeing," she said.
IPMM recognizes achievements in HR

Congratulating the winners, IPMM President Frank Sabola praised their determination, commitment and professional standards.
"In a competition defined by stiff rivalry, outstanding achievements, and high standards, you rose to the occasion and fought your way to the finish line," Sabola said. "You have set the bar higher and inspired others to strive for greatness."
